Abstract

B.I.T.'s OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology is able to read any sign, e.g. German type. Special tools reduce the impact of defects in the original and scanning process. The user may generate a specific dictionary by training the program to deal with specific characters and words. B.I.T. offers an interactive internet presentation within the technology framework as a document management or archive system. This displays facsimile and/or user-defined sections, gives a <<<>translation<>>> of these in a current font, and has a fast search option for free and pre-defined words to highlight the latter in the facsimile.
